It's All in the Details | Chapel Hill Baby Photographer

We've all heard the saying "the devil is in the details" but there is also a saying, "God is in the detail," which means that if you pay attention to the small things you will see big rewards. I find this is particularly true in my photography. While I love getting those 'big picture' shots, I am also always looking at the smallest details; the details that are often overlooked, the details that will often be forgotten.

Some of the obvious small details to get are of all the close-ups of a newborn, because let's face it, this time flies by and that first year can sometimes be a blur. While you will have pictures of your baby as a newborn and they will remind you of that time, the smaller details, for me at least, can bring a lot more back. For example, a close up of those little feet will remind you of how they used to kick you from inside, or that tight hold on mom's finger will remind you of how tight they used to hold onto you, long after they have let go! Even the ears...my daughter used to have the furriest ears (shhh...don't tell her) and when I see a close up of a newborn ear it reminds me. To me these details are absolutely priceless.

It's not just newborns either, details that seem so mundane to others can mean everything to someone else and I love being able to create those memories for people.

I could go on and on but I won't; well not today anyway. Memories will eventually fade but in this one small way we can live forever. The memories you make aren't just for you, they are for your children and their children and many generations to come.
