“We didn’t even realize we were making memories, we just knew we were having fun.” -Winnie the Pooh
Children are such beautiful and carefree souls; they have no worries and are able to just be themselves, and a child's true self is something special. Those moments are so incredibly precious, but they unfortunately won't last forever. They don't realize how important that time is so it's up to us, parents, friends, grandparents, photographers, etc., to document these fleeting moments before they're gone.
I took my children out to Camden Park, which is in Fearrington Village, to pick wild blackberries. These blackberries were really tasty but not a lot of them were ripe yet but that didn't stop my son from eating any he could get his chubby little hands on.Somehow he didn't get all the juices all over his nice white shirt. The good thing about Camden Park is that it is a small walking park so they kids won't get too tired by the time you get back to the car.
I tried to get them to pose for some photos but naturally they didn't listen, they rarely do, so I got some 'jumping off the rock' photos instead. Capturing a child's personality gives me all the feels.
From there we just walked around and I tried to take pictures of them just being themselves. Hopefully one day they will look back on these times, that they can't really remember, fondly. I love being able to give memories to families.
Playing games is always a great way to get some fun images, even something as simple as ring around the rosy. Asking your kids to give the other a hug can produce some of the cutest photos. You'll have to be quick though because if your kids are anything like mine, that hug is probably going to end in some sort of take-down maneuver.
Heck, just pictures of someone walking can really turn into a beautiful photo.
Whether you are an adult or a child it is ALWAYS imperative to stop and smell the flowers.
And of course you can't forget the final pictures, the ones where the kids have just kind of had enough. Those, too, can be beautiful reminders of what is really important in the world.
